Living and working combined with public space

A whole square, built around a theatre.

FS24. The project designs a complete city square with a theatre inside it. The lower floors are public: a theatre school, studios and offices, restaurants and shops. Above them the apartments rise in terraces, and the roof carries a terrace with a restaurant.

The building holds two worlds. Outside is the private one, where people live. Inside is the public one, the theatre court. Open access galleries, the Laubengänge, run along the inner face and connect all of the atelier homes.

Each atelier home is entered twice: on the lower level from a private route, and on the upper level from the public gallery.

A house that becomes the hill.

HS24. The Atelier House sits on a hill and merges with it. You live inside the landscape. The roof is one continuous surface that swells and dips like the ground around it, and the glazed walls sit under its raised parts.

There is no entrance at ground level. You enter through the ceiling. In the middle of the house you find the atelier, a circular room at the centre of the plan.

Small rooms inside a big room.

HS25. The installation proposes smaller rooms that can be placed inside a larger art workshop or similar space. Each room carries the basic amenities of living: a bathroom, a bedroom and a kitchen.

Every module is a light timber box with a slatted roof, raised on small feet, with its fittings built in: the sink, the cooktop and cupboards, the curtain that closes one side.

From storage to living and working.

FS26. The building had been turned into storage units. The task was to turn 33% of it into living. We placed the living on the upper floors and added a workshop that is open to the public.

The workshop also opens the building to the street.

Better use of working spaces and warehouse.

In January and June 2026 I planned and arranged the optimization of the existing spaces for BW-TEC, combining architectural space planning with logistics. The work covered new layouts for the working spaces and the warehouse.

The layouts were drawn at 1:50 and 1:100. The renders show the plan, and the photos show the completed result.

A house studied by building it.

This elective is a model and design study of Tadao Ando's Azuma House.

The model is open on one side, so the floors, the stair and the glazing can be read together. Panel joints and tie holes in the walls, the tiled floor and the black frames of the glazing are built into it.
